COVID-19 in South County

In March 2020 state and local authorities issued stay-at-homes directives telling people to stay home to slow the spread of COVID-19, a coronavirus that has reached pandemic proportions and infected nearly 25,000 people and killed more than 800 statewide. The pandemic has changed the way people live their day to day lives as some businesses have been forced to close and people asked to limit their social contact by staying home. Many public spaces have been shut down to limit access.

Shelves that were at one time filled with paper products such as toilet paper and paper towels were left bare for days at a time. The scene was repeated at stores throughout the country. Pictured is the Albertson's grocery in the 700 block of Third Avenue in Chula Vista. (Photo by Rick Eaton)
