COVID-19 in South County

In March 2020 state and local authorities issued stay-at-homes directives telling people to stay home to slow the spread of COVID-19, a coronavirus that has reached pandemic proportions and infected nearly 25,000 people and killed more than 800 statewide. The pandemic has changed the way people live their day to day lives as some businesses have been forced to close and people asked to limit their social contact by staying home. Many public spaces have been shut down to limit access.

Special shopping hours for seniors and disabled Costco members have been established from 8 a.m. - 9 a.m. on Fridays during the coronavirus pandemic. Two shopping lines formed and extended around the Costco Wholesale Warehouse and down the shipping driveway as empty trucks departed. One line for regular customers and the other for seniors shopping first when the doors opened. All shopping would be limited to groups of 50 to allow for social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic. (Photo by Rick Eaton)
