Romano’s team throws away a late lead.
Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente was on its way to victory against Chiapas FC Friday night when in the 90th minute defender Javier Gandolfi thrust Aviles Hurtado for a penalty that resulted in a goal and tied the game 1-1.
Although the team had chances throughout the game it wasn’t until the final minutes when striker Dayro Moreno sent a cross into the area to forward Gabriel Hauche who was marked by two defenders and redirected the ball to a solitary Jose Garcia, who rapidly pushed the ball into the net before the opposing goalkeeper was able to reach.
It was the 83rd minute and Garcia, who entered the game as a substitute, had scored his first career goal in this division.
Moreno had various opportunities but last nigh he could not inflict damage on the opposing team. Despite that he played well and continues to lead the team as their top scorer this season as he has eight goals and has scored more than 50% of the teams total goals.
The visitors did not create as many opportunities as Club Tijuana and for that reason Xolos coach was visible angry as he accused the referee of losing their chance of taking the three points because of the penalty he called against his team.
With this result the team earned their first draw of the season and currently stands 8th overall in the league standing.
Next week they will travel to Toluca in what will be a complicated visit since Toluca stands 5th and are tough to beat at home.
