A Chula Vista woman was ordered Aug. 19 to stand trial on seven charges stemming from arguments and attacks against other women at a service station after claiming she was blocked from putting air in her tires by another car.
Felicia Andrea Speaks, 31, is accused of beating two women with a wooden dowel or club on June 26 around 11:30 a.m. at the Arco AM-PM mini-market on E Street in Chula Vista. One victim went to a hospital and suffered minor injuries.
Speaks is also accused of robbery in taking one woman’s purse in the incident. The purse was later recovered with some money missing, said Deputy District Attorney Trisha Amador.
Speaks did not know the other women and they were attacked after she left the service station and returned without her car.
Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Ana Espana heard testimony over two days and reduced a child endangerment charge from a felony to a misdemeanor.
Speaks has previously pleaded not guilty and will get a trial date set on Sept. 3. She remains in the Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility on $200,000 bail.
