Joe Biden appears likely to become the next President on January 20, 2021. Biden is slightly ahead in the polls even in the states where Trump won by a wide margin in 2016. All of the Democratic plus some Independents can hardly wait for the change. The novelty of a president who likes playing golf more than he does leading the Federal Government has long since worn off. How will a Biden administration do? The question is absurd. Everything will change. The Donald has dedicated himself to undoing all that Obama did. Joe will follow suit.
One of the first changes which is certain to occur early next year will happen when Ruth Bader Ginsberg turns in her resignation. She has had nagging health problems and been in and out of hospitals for a long time.
Who will Biden choose to replace her? One strong possibility is Obama. He went to Harvard Law School and edited the Law School review while there. Democrats are eager to re-balance the Court will as many more moderate or liberal replacements as they can.
A big decision will be made when it is necessary to choose the vice-presidential candidate. There are three senators who have qualifications. Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar, and Elizabeth Warren. Amy has said she does’t want to be VP. Warren is the strongest of the trio. It is better for Biden to choose none of them. Democrats hold a comfortable majority in the House of Representatives. They need more senators to gain control of the Senate. A good choice is Gov. Gretchen Witmer of Michigan. Michigan is a potential swing state which could go either way. Don’t we already have plenty of old politicians in Washington D. C.? Gretchen is decades younger than Joe at the age of 48. Heaven forbid that anything should happen while Biden is in office it is good to prepare for all eventualities.
There will be many Cabinet members to select. A bunch could come from former democratic presidential candidates. Julian Castro, Beto O’Rourke, Jay Inslee, Pete Buttigieg, Andrew Yang, Tulsi Gabbard, and Marianne Williamson are all available. Tulsi made waves among other candidates during the debates. Send her far away. She is probably the only politician in the US who is a Hindu. Send her to India to serve as the American Ambassador. When when she is on vacation she can leave New Dehli and go surfing on the coast. A former presidential candidate is Al Gore. You can’t count him out for being in his seventies. Others in the Capital are older than he is. Gore is overqualified for any job. He was a congressman, a senator, a vice-president, a Nobel Peace Prize Winner, and an Academy Award winner for An Inconvenient Truth. World leaders would respect him as Secretary of State. However Al would decline any position. Since being defeated by hundreds of votes by a possibly rigged election in Florida, Al has made hundreds of millions of dollars in investments. Count him out.
