Nora Vargas on Tuesday was chosen to head the San Diego County Board of Supervisors for the second year in a row.
Vargas, who represents National City and Chula Vista at the county level, was nominated by fellow Democrat Terra Lawson Remer.
“The work ahead will not be easy, but I have no doubt with compassionate, deliberate work, and collaborative spirit, that we’re going to able to once again move the county forward and our communities forward and do the great things we are meant to do as your elected officials and representatives,” said Vargas.
As Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Vargas speaks for the county and the Board of Supervisors.
She was first elected to the board in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, beating out former State Senator Ben Hueso for the District 1 seat.
