The city of Chula Vista welcomes new holiday festivities this year as the Third Avenue Village Association sponsors Holiday in the Village.
The event on Saturday, Dec. 1, is a temporary alternative for the city’s annual Starlight Parade, which was cancelled this year due to safety concerns regarding construction along Third Avenue for the streetscape project.
Third Avenue Village Association Executive Director Luanne Hulsizer said she’s excited about the event.
“On behalf of the Third Avenue Village Association, we want to invite the community to join us for this holiday celebration and we’ll have activities for all ages and opportunities for entertainment, shopping, dining and experiencing Third Avenue,” Hulsizer said.
The free event kicks off the holiday season and will be held in the newly remodeled Village Plaza and throughout downtown Third Avenue from G to E streets.
It features live music, carolers, children’s activities, artisans, ugliest holiday sweater contest, karaoke, classic car displays, pictures with Santa and more.
Merchants will showcase their shops with decorated windows as well as retail and restaurant specials.
Holiday in the Village begins at noon and concludes with the annual lighting of Third Avenue at 5 p.m.
