In a very bizarre game Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente defeated the current champion and archrival Leon Friday night.
Forward Dayro Moreno exposed Leon’s defense in the 16th minute when striker Dario Benedetto centered the ball to him who, with a soft header, sent the ball into the net to put the locals up 1-0 at Estadio Caliente.
In the 32nd minute the opponents were left with 10 players after defender Nacho Gonzalez received an automatic red card for holding a Xolos player.
In the second half the unusual occurred as the visitors began attacking knowing that they needed a win to remain alive, Carlos Peña combed the ball only to be deflected by rookie defender Javier Salas who scored an own goal to tie the game in the 68th minute.
Four minutes later the Xolos created an opportunity but an opposing players used his hand in what seemed to be a penalty but nothing was called, the play continued and midfielder Javier Güemez crossed the ball into the area and defender Jonny Magallon in an attempt to clear the ball put it in his own net to give Tijuana a lead.
In the 88th minute Moreno culminated an outstanding game when he assisted Benedetto who then fooled the keeper and scored to give Club Tijuana a two-goal lead.
In the 92nd minute the opponents scored as forward Mario Boselli found pushed the ball into the net with a header as he beat his coverage.
With this victory the Xolos ended their season with only 21 points and now have to wait until next year for a new season.
