I was very disappointed to learn of Chula Vista Council Member Galvez’s plan to terminate the employment of her assistant. This appears to be a political ploy to garner attention for herself. Meanwhile, there are so many other ways to reduce the budget in an impactful way.
One important way is to tackle the overtime abuse by certain safety employees in Chula Vista. Some of these employees are getting double their regular salary in overtime alone. However, she does not have the courage to have a real impact on our City budget. Instead, she exploits one individual serving the council to further her own ambitions. For what? To save $50,000? What percentage of that represents the city’s expenses? What percentage of the budget will our Chula Vista save— .001% of the budget is what would be saved.
I will never support her again and I regret contributing to her election.
