The Chula Vista Police Department is scheduled to issue a report on military equipment used and maintained by the department. The presentation is on March 26 from 2-4 p.m. at the City of Chula Vista Council Chambers.
Police will present its Annual Military Equipment Use Report, outlining its current use for military-style equipment, providing attendees with the opportunity to ask questions, make comments, and voice concerns.
California State Assembly Bill 481 requires law enforcement agencies to post an annual report detailing specific information, including inventory, cost, and usage of military-style equipment for the previous year. In addition to specialized equipment, the report also includes commonly used police equipment such as command vehicles, off-the-shelf drones, and less lethal tools, which have all been redefined by the new law as military-style equipment.
