A warrant for the arrest of Enrique Cruz Pompa, 19, remains outstanding in the gang-related slaying of a man in National City on April 9.
Pompa, of San Diego, is accused in the slaying of Eduardo Ortega Jr., 25, who was stabbed in the 200 block of North Highland Avenue around 11:30 p.m.
Ortega was taken to a hospital where he died shortly after midnight.
National City Police detectives arrested Eleazar Mariscal, 34, for the slaying on April 10. He appeared before Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Patricia Garcia who increased his bail to $2 million.
Mariscal pleaded not guilty. On April 19, the preliminary hearing for Mariscal was set for June 23.
The murder charge alleges that Mariscal and Pompa committed the crime in association with a criminal street gang.
Pompa should be considered armed and dangerous, according to National City Police. They say he has shoulder length black hair, is 5’8″ tall, about 180 pounds with a stocky build.
A National City Police detective spotted Pompa driving a white Chevrolet truck on April 12 in San Diego in the area of South 33rd Street and Ocean View Boulevard.
Pompa evaded officers and the truck was found abandoned.
