Chula Vista police are looking for a 29-year old suspect in the early morning shooting of a Chula Vista couple after the assailant allegedly broke into the woman’s home.
Police responded to a call from 24-year-old Ashley Graden at 1955 Padding River Road just after 5 a.m. today. She told police she and a male had been shot.
The suspect, Terrell Anthony Spain, is Graden’s ex boyfriend, according police Lt. Buddy Magor.
Graden was shot in the wrist and the 23-year-old man, believed to be in a relationship with Graden, was shot in the face.
Magor did not say whether the shooting was a crime of passion, however, Graden and Spain have a five-year-old child together. The child was not home at the time of the incident.
Magor said Spain forced his way into the home and used a handgun to shoot the couple in an upstairs bedroom.
Graden and the male were conscious when police arrived and able to communicate with officers. They were transported to Scripps Mercy trauma center in San Diego and the injuries are considered non-life threatening, Magor said.
Spain is a resident of San Diego and currently not in custody. Police said he is considered to be armed and dangerous.
“We are actively pursuing all pieces of information to locate him,” Magor said.
An adult male and female were in the home at the time the shooting occurred but were not injured.
The Chula Vista Police Department Family Protection Unit is actively investigating this case. Anyone with any information as to the whereabouts of Spain should contact the Chula Vista Police Department at (619) 691-5151.
