Pacific Coast at forefront of changing lifestyles

As more young adults opt to live at home longer and middle-aged adults are faced with the prospect of caring for elderly parents, the need for guest living quarters looms larger.

Pacific Coast Communities has responded to this need by designing floor plans with private, separate guest residences at its Santa Barbara new home community in Otay Ranch. Plan Two is a typical example of this trendsetting approach to home design.

Sized at 3,171 square feet, Plan Two offers five or six bedrooms, 4.5 baths and a 2-car garage. The guest residence is conveniently located on the first floor and features its own private exterior entry as well as an interior entry within the home. Cozy and comfortable, the guest residence contains a full bath and a spacious closet. Options are available for the addition of a private bedroom and kitchenette.

“The private guest residence is an excellent solution to a pressing need,” says sales manager Robin Skaggs. “Most buyers will probably use the suite for an aging parent or relative, an adult child, or retain it for guests. However, some may choose to use the space as a private office or as a rental unit for extra income. In any event, it’s a welcome, versatile feature.”

Interior highlights include 12-inch ceramic tile entries, wall-to-wall carpeting in living areas, decorative baseboards and detailed door casings, and 10-foot ceilings downstairs with expansive 11-foot ceilings in living rooms. Large family rooms feature wood-burning gas log lighter fireplaces with ceramic hearths.

Gourmet island kitchens are fitted with Whirlpool Energy STAR-rated appliances including 30-inch double ovens, 36-inch built-in gas cooktops with five sealed burners, 30-inch microwave/hood combos and multi-cycle dishwashers. Stained beechwood cabinetry and ceramic tile countertops create an elegant appearance in kitchen and master bath.

All Santa Barbara plans feature luxurious master suites with retreat options and spacious walk-in closets with upgraded shelving systems. Adjoining baths offer large oval soaking tubs, separate showers with ceramic tile surrounds and clear glass enclosures, vanity tops with dual basins, and separate commodes.

Distinctive exteriors are available in Santa Barbara, Tuscan and Spanish elevations with elaborate stonework, turrets, iron and wood detailing. Santa Barbara homes are priced from the low $500,000s.

Otay Ranch offers easy proximity to I-125, parks, schools, and retail amenities.
