Eleven high school marching bands from Chula Vista and throughout Southern California are meeting Nov. 13 at Otay Ranch Town Center for a marching band competiton and a community festival. Local talent and food vendors will be featured at the event.
Event coordinator Charles Wolf, who is also Eastlake High School’s marching band and orchestra instructor, said it has been about six years since the South Bay held a band review competition.
“We wanted to bring this type of event back to Chula Vista for the community to enjoy,” Wolf said. “Most of our local marching bands have to travel long distances to competitions but this one is right in their own back yard.”
Food, carnival-style games and entertainment will run through 4 p.m. Otay Town Center is located at 2015 Birch Road.
