Multi-platinum rockers P.O.D. will headline the outdoor music festival scheduled Oct. 15 at the United States Olympic Training Center-Chula Vista as part of the city of Chula Vista’s 100th birthday celebration.
With strong roots in Chula Vista, the local icons will take the stage following a grand fireworks show marking a new century for the city.
Gate admission to the day-long festival is free and open to residents and guests throughout the region.
Event organizers have extended the headline concert time to run from 8:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. to accommodate the band’s entire performance.
Chula Vista’s pride of rock ’n’ roll will take the stage at approximately 8:15 p.m. The band plans to ignite the citywide celebration with explosive hits like “Alive,” “Boom” and “Youth of a Nation.”
With strong local roots, lead singer Sonny Sandoval, guitarist Marcos Curiel and drummer Wuv Bernardo, along with bassist and Cleveland native Traa Daniels are proud to bring the band home for what promises to be a captivating performance in one of Chula Vista’s most scenic venues.
P.O.D.’s performances blend reggae grooves, Latin beats, hip-hop and powerful rock chords that send a universal message through the band’s music.
P.O.D. is coming off its Rock Allegiance tour this summer and is now back in the studio with Grammy-nominated music producer Howard Benson (3 Doors Down, Creed, Daughtry and Kelly Clarkson).
“Chula Vista’s Centennial Celebration is about recognizing the best of Chula Vista and having P.O.D. come home to the South Bay is the icing on the cake,” said Laurel McFarlane, a Chula Vista resident and CEO of McFarlane Promotions, the event’s production company.
Additional bands and performances will offer something for every generation and musical taste throughout the festival, which begins at noon.
