More guns than people

The division of labor requires versatility. Men and women often have many jobs during their lifetimes. One survey said that on average people live in fourteen different places. It could be an underestimate for some.

Yearning for a simple life seems natural though may be impossible in modern times even for those who live in rural areas. Patience is a virtue hard to come by. A methodical approach is feasible for some. Others enjoy gambling or frequenting casinos.
Data control and ultra complex computers are essential for much of the economy, and the military. No way to go back to a time before World War 2 when 40% of Americans were on farms with livestock. Now 40% make purchases with credit cards. Those who who work in agriculture are only 2% of those in the continental US.

There are assumptions involved in moving along a path forward. Following the status quo endlessly into the future is the way to go. Or is it? There are limits to everything. Don’t waste time, money, words, or material resources. All resources are finite in supply. That is especially true of fresh water. There are more guns than people in the US. Some want even more. Will we ever stop fighting wars? The Beatles put it in a humorous way when they sang,”Happiness is a warm gun.”
