The San Diego Section released its official rankings in girls volleyball, girls field hockey and boys water polo this week.

South County teams are well represented in the three sports, including several near the top of their respective divisions.

Eastlake (6-4) is ranked No. 2 among the section’s Division II girls field hockey teams. The Lady Titans defeated visiting Mira Mesa, 3-0, on Sept. 21 and topped host Helix, 5-1, on Tuesday.

Eastlake also had recorded wins over Santana (9-0 on Aug. 21), Hilltop (11-0 on Aug. 23), El Capitan (13-0 on Sept. 5) and Patrick Henry (1-0 on Sept. 12).

The Lady Titans are scheduled to face off Metro-Mesa League play Friday at Olympian and host Bonita Vista on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

Senior Helena Arce paced Eastlake in season scoring through five recorded games with 21 points (10 goals, one assist), followed by junior Sabrina Jonason with 19 points (eight goals, three assists) and senior Brooke Bateman with 13 points (six goals, one assist).

Otay Ranch (8-6-1) is ranked fifth among Division II teams while Olympian (2-2) is 12th, Bonita Vista (2-9) is 15th, Castle Park (2-8) is 19th, Southwest (0-2) is 21st and Hilltop (6-3) is 22nd. Chula Vista and Mar Vista were not included in the latest rankings release.

Otay Ranch, which defeated visiting Granite Hills, 4-0, on Sept. 19, opens league play Friday at Bonita Vista. The Lady Mustangs fired off 22 shots in the win over the Lady Eagles.

Clairemont (9-0) topped the Division II rankings while La Costa Canyon (13-1) was No. 1 among Division I teams.

Teams are still inputting their records but there was a logjam at the top of the Division III boys water polo rankings with Bonita Vista (3-2) leading the 23-team division, followed by No. 2 Olympian (2-0) and No. 3 Castle Park (7-0). Southwest (3-5) held down the No. 10 position.

Bonita Vista defeated El Capitan, 11-7, in a tournament game on Monday. The Barons face off league play Oct. 4 against visiting Hilltop.

Olympian’s scoring leaders included junior Ethan Ongteco (12 goals, one assist), junior Nicholas Cabrera (five goals, four assists) and senior Caleb Castro (five goals, one assist).

Castle Park has defeated seven different opponents in its perfect start: Mt. Miguel (17-5 on Sept. 6), Olympian (11-9 on Sept. 8), San Ysidro (16-8 on Sept. 12), CVLCC (17-9 on Sept. 15), Mater Dei Catholic (15-10 on Sept. 19), Southwest (14-9 on Sept. 20) and Monte Vista (15-10 on Sept. 22).

Top returners include seniors Canon Humphrey and Ishmael Guzman. Humphrey earned first-team All-Mesa League honors last season while Guzman was named to the second all-league team.

“The team looks strong with a lot of starters having club experience playing in the Junior Olympics and California State Games with a drive to go deep into CIF this year while also still competing in the Mesa League and looking to finish in the top three in the league,” CPHS coach Mark Esquivel said.

Mar Vista was ranked 15th among Division I teams while Hilltop (2-2) and Eastlake (8-6) were ranked 15th and 16th, respectively among Division II teams.
