A 16-year prison term has been handed down to Delaeno Moorman, 22, of San Diego, who pleaded guilty to robbing and sexually assaulting two women in Chula Vista.
Deputy District Attorney Trisha Amador said Moorman will have to serve 85 percent of the 16-year term before he can be paroled. He will also have to register as a sex offender in whatever community he lives after parole.
Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Kathleen Lewis gave him credit for serving 328 days in jail and ordered him to pay $300 to a man who was robbed. A restitution hearing for other victims will be held later. He was fined $1,142.
A kidnapping for robbery charge and a third robbery was dismissed after he pleaded guilty to one robbery, sexual battery by restraint at knifepoint, and assault with intent to commit rape involving a second victim.
Moorman was arrested Oct. 28, 2011, by Chula Vista Police after two women were robbed within 10 minutes of each other. A woman reported her purse was stolen at knifepoint at 10:45 p.m. in the 200 block of East Orange Avenue; she had a small puncture wound to her neck and hand.
The second woman was robbed in the 200 block of Slate Street. She told police she was robbed of her cell phone and food she had just purchased. She said she was dragged approximately 20 feet, which was the basis for the kidnapping charge.
Moorman was spotted walking in the 1400 block of Melrose Avenue by Chula Vista Police.
They found him to be in possession of a knife, brass knuckles and stolen property from both female victims, according to police.
