A 24-year-old Chula Vista man has pleaded not guilty to a single felony count of possessing child pornography on his home computer.
Kevin Arce was arrested Oct. 22 and is charged with possessing visual depictions of images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct that have been transported through interstate and foreign commerce.
Arce will get a trial date set on Dec. 18 in U.S. District Court in San Diego. He posted $25,000 bond on Oct. 29 and remains free on condition he participates in a computer monitoring program.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received some tips that someone with Arce’s e-mail address was receiving images of female child pornography in October 2014. A subpoena was issued to ATT to determine the user of the IP e-mail address.
FBI agents searched Arce’s apartment and seized at least one computer on Jan. 14. Arce was not home at the time and he was interviewed by agents at his workplace.
Arce initially denied downloading child pornography, but later acknowledged he had downloaded “some” photos from websites that showed it. He told agents he had looked at pornography since he was 13 years old on a computer, but denied an interest in young girls.
