Each year people of all ages come from throughout San Diego County to frolic in the snowfall at the Village Walk at EastLake outdoor shopping center. The falling snow, which vanishes on contact with no residue, was created by MagicSnow Systems, whose clients have included the holiday show for the New York City Radio City Music Hall Rockettes, Disney and Dancing With the Stars.
The magical snow falls at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m., each Thursday through Sunday, through Dec. 24, to transform the courtyard near the Koi Pond into a holiday wonderland. Children get free headbands and “magic” glasses to watch the snow falling in rainbow colors.
The snowfalls at Village Walk at EastLake are a popular setting for people to take annual holiday photos. People can also pose with life-size Santa, the Snowman, Elsa, and Olaf cut-outs, located throughout the shopping center each Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A special Holiday Family Festival took place Dec. 4 when Santa arrived on the Holiday Express Train, listened to children’s wishes and posed with them for parent picture-taking. Families could ride on the Holiday Express Train and Santa’s elves made balloon creations. Children, ages 12 and younger, could make a holiday decoration at the craft station.
Village Walk at EastLake is located at the intersection of EastLake Parkway and Miller Drive in Chula Vista. Watch a video of the magical snowfall and learn more about the free holiday events at www.shopvillagewalk.com.
