Jimmy Carter has lived long enough to vote for Kamala Harris. He and Rosalyn were married for 72 years. The man from Plains Georgia was a good President for over three years. Inflation was very high in the fourth year- about 12%. Disaster struck when radical Islamic factions took control in Iran. There were Americans-mainly diplomats there. They were taken hostage, and held behind bars for many months.
Helicopters with U. S. troops tried to rescue them and over the desert they were shot down. That made it certain that Carter would only serve for one term. Now we have Trump proclaiming that inflation is high. That is absurd. Inflation is about 2.5% which is an all time low. Yet there are fanatical followers of the Donald who think every word he says is sacrosanct. 30 years ago there were two major political parties which often cooperated on bills being considered by Congress. The word for that was used by Edgar Allan Poe—nevermore.
Now we have two sides. One still uses facts, and realistic views. The other side has Trump who considers Vladimir Putin one of his best friends. This is a topsy turvy world.
