A woman has been ordered to stand trial for hit and run with death in a fatal collision with Pablo Rosa-Velez who was struck and killed on his motorcycle in Chula Vista on July 3.
A Nov. 9 trial has been set for Tina Marie Murray, 47, of Imperial Beach, following a preliminary hearing that was conducted by Chula Vista Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sontag.
Rosa-Velez, 30, worked at General Dynamics NASSCO in Barrio Logan and was an expectant father as his wife was pregnant. He was riding his motorcycle in the 2400 block of Main Street at 2:15 p.m. when the driver of a Ford Explorer pulled out of a storage unit and collided with him.
The driver briefly stopped, then drove off and the vehicle was found abandoned three days later in the 1200 block of West Frontage Road at the south end of San Diego Harbor. Chula Vista Police had earlier released surveillance photos of the tan colored SUV before it was found abandoned.
Pablo Rosa-Velez’s celebration of life was held July 15 in Chula Vista.
Murray was arrested July 24 by Chula Vista Police. She has pleaded not guilty and remains in the Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility on $100,000 bail.
