Independence Day celebrations are plentiful

CHULA VISTA

The City of Chula Vista’s FourthFest will return again this year, offering the public a free fireworks display at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center on July 4. The event is open to the public and all ages are welcome. Sponsored by Seven Mile Casino, this year’s FourthFest will feature a simultaneous broadcast in both English and Spanish through Amor 102.9.

The Elite Athlete Training Center’s gates will open at 7 p.m. and fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.

Spectators are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs. Food trucks will be available.

In addition to free parking at the Elite Athlete Training Center, attendees can also park for free at the adjacent New Hope Community Church, located at 2720 Olympic Parkway. Mountain Hawk Park, located at 1475 Lake Crest Drive, will open starting at 7 a.m. and is another great spot to view the fireworks show. Street parking there is available on a first-come basis. All City parks close at 10 p.m. Please see the attached image for a map of the parking areas.

Please be aware of several restrictions at Elite Athlete Training Center, Mountain Hawk Park, and New Hope Community Church: alcohol, pop-up tents, grills and umbrellas are not allowed, and all animals and drones are strictly prohibited at the Elite Athlete Training Center.

IMPERIAL BEACH
Imperial Beach residents will be enjoying fireworks again this Fourth of July. The display, being shot from the IB Pier, will begin around 9 p.m. to insure maximum visibility with the benefit of darkness. You can view the fireworks on the beach from Imperial Beach Blvd. to Palm Avenue, facing the end of Portwood Pier, so gather friends and family, bring a picnic or grab a snack from neighboring businesses, then spread your beach blanket early to claim some space and catch all the action. Be sure to tune into KyXy Radio 96.5 FM at 9 PM for a synched music playlist set to the fireworks show. Be sure to stick around after the fireworks display for music at Imperial Beach Pier Plaza.
