Dario Benedetto’s breathtaking goal in 90th minute gave Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente the win over Club Queretaro.
In a sold out game most likely because of Brasilian Ronaldinho’s presence on Quertaro, the team responded to their fans and demonstrated that they will pursue advancing to the playoffs.
After 45 minutes both teams remained scoreless but the second half began in a different tone as the opposing team scored in the 46th minute as midfielder Danilinho accelerated into the box and assisted his teammate Ronaldinho, who sent a potent header that Xolos goalkeeper Cirilo Saucedo could not stop.
With that lead Queretaro sharpened their attacking strategy and began creating more situations so that their leader and goal scorer could have more chances of scoring again.
Tijuana on the other hand made substitutions to modify their formation and in the 61st minute midfielder Juan Arango scored the equalizer with a quick strike as he benefited from the keepers inaccuracy to deflect a manageable shot.
After recovering from being at disadvantage the Xolos generated numerous options to score but time after time the offense lacked definition.
In the 90th minute Benedetto launched an attack but was fouled before entering the box and the free kick was awarded. Arango sent a pass to Benedetto who beat the defender marking him then his header culminated in the victory.
With the three points earned Friday the team stands in the 8th place overall for the moment, so they need to work hard these last four games of the season in order to make playoffs.
