We often use the term “aging gracefully,” but what if we could all age with vitality instead — live not only longer but better lives. Being vital means to be necessary or energetic. What if we all could remain both through the so-called golden years?
There are multiple things proven to help in vital aging – remaining socially and physically active are included on this list. Ten years ago Christian Community Theater (CCT) of San Diego created an opportunity for older adults (those aged 55+) to remain active and be creative while staying socially connected. This opportunity was an annual musical revue named “Senior Follies,” but has since been given the new name of “San Diego Follies.” Why? To remove any possible misconception that this might be slow or outdated. It is anything but – it’s hip and lively!
It’s true that the cast of the Follies has many years behind them, however these years are what provide the talent and charm for the show! Take the oldest cast member, Earl, who is 87 and was a captain in the U.S. Navy for 30 years.
There are also the five Follies showgirls who have won the title of Ms. Senior San Diego as well as seasoned pros like Terry and Gary who add their experience to the mix. The list goes on to contribute to the specialness that is San Diego Follies!
San Diego Follies is a family-friendly musical revue with beautiful costumes, magnificent scenery and stunning lighting.
Every year this show has a new theme and is packed with skits, memorable musical numbers, and flashy dance numbers all accompanied by a fabulous live band. This years theme – Time Warp – will include transporting the audience to: King Arthur’s Medieval Court, the Roaring Gatsby 1920’s, the Wild, Wild West, the Wacky Bubble Gum 1950’s, the Groovin’ 1970’s and more…
