The numbers keep adding up for the Hilltop High School boys soccer team. The Lancers defeated visiting Bonita Vista, 2-0, Tuesday to remain unbeaten in three Mesa League games and, in the process, extend their South County-best record to 17-2-0.
Hilltop entered the 2011 portion of the 2010-11 prep soccer season ranked 30th in the nation in ESPN’s Fab 50 poll. As the wins keep mounting, so does the Lancers’ national ranking, which stood at No. 19 entering the week.
David Zendejas and Jimmy Estrada each scored goals Tuesday while goalkeeper Adrian Zendejas was credited with 12 saves to record the shutout win.
Hilltop, which has outscored teams 57-11 this season, has won its first three league games all by shutouts. The Lancers have 10 shutout victories.
Hilltop is one of five San Diego Section teams included in ESPN’s Fab 50 national poll. Poway (18-0-1) entered the week ranked fourth, while Rancho Bernardo (10-1-1) was ranked 20th, Westview (10-1-4) was ranked 21st and San Pasqual (12-2-1) was ranked 29th.
