An Oct. 11 preliminary hearing was set Monday for 19-year-old man accused of killing his friend in Paradise Hills in June.
Tyshawn Powell, 20, was shot to death in the driveway of his own home on June 29 on Childs Avenue around 1 a.m. and Angelo Roshon Richardson, Jr. has been charged with murder.
Richardson appeared Monday before San Diego Superior Court Judge Michael Smyth. He has pleaded not guilty.
Deputy District Attorney Melissa Mack said Richardson and Powell had an “ongoing dispute” between the two friends.
Richardson is also charged with shooting at an inhabited dwelling, possession of a firearm by a felon, and being a person prohibited from possessing ammunition.
Richardson was convicted of robbery in El Cajon Superior Court in 2018 and was placed on probation after he finished a jail term. He now faces more time on that case for failing to remain law abiding.
Mack said Richardson faces a probation revocation hearing which will likely be heard after the murder case against him is resolved. An 18-year-old woman was also arrested with Richardson on suspicion of being an accessory, but she was not charged in court as she has another unrelated case.
Richardson remains in jail on $2 million bail.
