Halloween activities will invade National City as the fifth annual Tower of Terror haunted house takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 31.
The event is brought together by the National City Fire Fighters Association Local 2744 and will feature a haunted house, costume contests, static displays, art crafting area and an education trailer where firefighter equipment will be on display.
“This year we are going to have more activities for younger children and the haunted house itself will be bigger,” said firefighter Jay Stiles. “It’s going to have a few extra things but it will stay pretty consistent from last year’s.”
The haunted house will be located in the first level of the drill tower at National City Fire Station 34 where firefighters will be scaring individuals through torture chambers and caves for those who decide to enter.
“The firefighters will be running the show, but this year we are getting a lot of volunteers from Sweetwater High School as part of their community service hours and from Southwestern College,” said Stiles.
The Tower of Terror will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. at 343 East 16th St. in National City.
