The lives of Otay Ranch High School students are all planned out thanks to a donation of Passion Planners from Otay Ranch High School alumna Anjelia Trinidad, 25.
The planners, which Trinidad created, not only help plan out weekly and monthly tasks it maps out short- and long-term goals in the work place and personal goals.
“It’s just like having a planner, but that planner is basing your life around the goals that you have,” she said.
Trinidad donated about 3,100 Passion Planners to every student and staff member at her alma mater.
Assistant Principal Scott Tanner said the donation will greatly help students.
“It was not only an incredibly generous donation, it was tremendously inspirational for our students to hear her story, and to know that she struggled and preserved over the obstacles that they face daily,” he said.
Trinidad said she always felt connected to Otay Ranch High School.
“I’m just trying to give back to students to help them take the next step to the future,” she said.
Trinidad, a graduate of the U.C. Los Angeles, knows the importance a planner plays in achieving academic success and for everyday living.
“The thing that really helped me feel most productive and the most goal-oriented was my planner,” she said.
She said most planners in the market had one blank space for each day of the week and the weekend was split into two sections. She knew she needed something bigger and better that would keep her life on track.
“No planners that I know of help you break down your long- and short-term goals, which I needed,” she said.
So Trinidad created Passion Planners through a successful crowd-funding campaign in 2013. Her Kickstarter generated a pledge $48,000 in 20 days. A year later a 2014 campaign for a smaller version of the planners generated a $658,434 pledge.
“It just kind of exploded,” she said about the funding.
Her Passion Planners also inspire through motivational quotes. And each week there is a section where its user can document good things that happened in that week.
