Going to extremes

I once boarded a plane to Palm Springs. The temperature on the plane was about 65 degrees Fahrenheit. This was in the middle of summer. I walked out of the plane into a record temperature of 121. What a contrast!

Many years ago I was a student at the University of Toledo. It is near the border with Michigan. There was a night early in January when I walked from the dorm to an auditorium to see a film- Throne of Blood. It is a Japanese version of Macbeth. That night the temperature was -24, with a wind chill factor of -56. The actors were Toshiro Mifune as Lord Macbeth, and Isuzu Yamada as Lady Macbeth. I wrote a review for the campus newspaper the following day.

Now we begin to experience the advent of climate change. Who knows what extremes people will feel in the future all over the world?
