Fundraiser helps vulnerable in need of jump start

Organizers of the Bonita Optimist Club’s Heroes for Children Golf Classic, said they are still looking for golfers and sponsors.

Home Start, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to child abuse prevention and providing evidence-based family strengthening services, celebrated its annual Blue Ribbon Gala on April 27, at The US Grant Hotel. The event raised more than $120,000 for funding its crucial programs and assistance services.

“On behalf of all of us at Home Start, I am incredibly grateful for the many individuals and businesses who supported our most important fundraiser of the year. This funding helps transform the future of vulnerable local children, families, and individuals. As dedicated advocates, we express our deepest gratitude,” shared Laura Tancredi-Baese, Home Start CEO in a press release.

A highlight of the evening was the powerful stories shared by Home Start program participants, showcasing its mission. Each year, the Blue Ribbon Gala takes place during National Child Abuse Prevention Month to recognize the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect. Home Start’s critical programs serve children, parents, and individuals affected by tragedies including homelessness, domestic violence, hunger, abuse and trauma. Last year, the organization served over 22,000 individuals in San Diego County.

The Presenting Sponsor for the event was the Rodeki Foundation. For more information and ways to support Home Start, please visit www.home-start.org.
