Fourth of July in Chula Vista

The city of Chula Vista is sponsoring a free firework display on the Fourth of July beginning at dusk, approximately at 9 p.m. at the Chula Vista Elite Athletic Training Center. The Chula Vista 4th Fest is provided by the city, CVEATC, Seven Mile Casino, and special simultaneous music will accompany the fireworks on radio station Magic 92.5. Attendees may bring blankets, portable chairs and snacks. Several food trucks will be on site for food purchases.

The fireworks will be launched from the athlete training grounds and viewing is available at the CVEATC and Mountain Hawk Park. CVEATC can accommodate up to 5,000 attendees and 600 vehicles. Parking is free. Gates open at 7 p.m. Addition free parking is available at New Hope Community Church, 2720 Olympic Parkway.

Restrictions for the CVEATC and New Hope Community Church include alcohol, pop-up tents, grills and umbrellas are not allowed on the premises.

Mountain Hawk Park is located at 1475 Lake Crest Drive, opens July at 7:30 p.m. and accommodates up to 3,000 people. Street parking is first-come basis. Park rules include no charcoal grills, glass bottles, or tents. City parks close at 10 p.m.

The Chula Vista Fire Department reminds all that private use of fireworks in San Diego County i including firecrackers, sparklers, bottle rockets, M-80s, roman candles, cherry bombs, snappers and poppers, is prohibited.
