#FoodieNews: Let’s go go to Mango.Mango

Happy New Year!

Help fulfill your New Year’s resolution of living healthier by making healthier-choices while dining out. My favorite place to grab a bite (with less guilt to digest!) is at Mango.Mango, a fresh and healthy eatery on Bonita Road just across the street from the Chula Vista Golf Course.

This little eatery is a fairly new and unique addition to the community. Their doors have been open for nearly two years and the space is a beautiful and inviting environment. It can only be described as a delicious breakfast spot, bistro, juice stop and fruiteria rolled into one.

They serve breakfast daily and serve their regular menu, which includes sandwiches, soups and salads, for lunch and throughout the evening. Business hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Sunday.

Online ordering is also an option every day of the week — meaning there is absolutely zero excuse for skipping a healthy meal in or out.

One of my favorite dishes is the signature Mango.Mango wrap. Warm, thinly sliced grilled chicken is wrapped with layers of sweet ripe mango, avocado, baby spinach, alfalfa sprouts and the house spread in a spinach tortilla. The flavor combination of chicken and mango is pure sweet-savory pleasure to the palette. Seriously, it’s such a treat.

The pitaya bowl is my other favorite. Pitaya, better known as dragon fruit, is pureed and frozen, topped with granola, coconut, bananas, strawberries, blueberries and drizzled with honey. This bowl really hits the spot when I’m looking for a sweet-tooth fix.

Açai bowls are served here as well.

Another must-try is the chicken pesto sandwich. This sandwich is made with sourdough bread, studded with sundried tomatoes and the pesto spread is made in-house. In fact, Mango.Mango has a scratch kitchen, meaning they make everything in-house, from scratch, including the warm savory soups that are made daily.

I urge you to give this neighborhood restaurant a try. Enjoy delicious freshly made food and start the new year with a visit to Mango.Mango. There’s surely nothing more satisfying than guilt-free good eats.
