An Oct. 17 trial date was set Monday for an alleged hit and run driver who killed a Chula Vista baker in March.
Guillermo Jimenez, 29, pleaded not guilty in Chula Vista Superior Court to get a trial date set in the March 11 fatality of Rogelio Medrano Arellano, 62.
Arellano was struck in the 400 block of Moss Street and 4th Avenue in Chula Vista. He was getting into a car at 9:45 p.m. when he was hit. He was a baker for 30 years at the Grab & Go Hot Sandwiches, according to the restaurant’s website.
Jimenez was ordered to stand trial June 15 for felony hit and run and gross vehicular manslaughter in a preliminary hearing.
