Please! Enough already. I am so sick and tired of many political candidates that use some obscure relative’s surname instead of their legal given name to appeal to certain ethnic groups.( there ought be a law…) Most recently we have seen Dan Smith now change his ballot name to Dan Smith Diaz. Then there are candidates that try to use ballot designations to boost their experience, i.e. Mr. Verdugo, a contract attorney for two small cities attempting to use the titles of Deputy City Attorney or Dan Smith who runs a small one man shop that specializes in divorces and DUI defense is now saying he’s a federal defense attorney. Well that’s a stretch.
The job of City Attorney is one of the most important positions in a city and especially a large and growing city like ours. The position requires one of unquestionable ethics and experience. That one and only right person in this race is Bart Miesfeld. I’ve worked alongside Bart Miesfeld in much of the 20 years he served our city as a deputy city attorney and then as our last appointed City Attorney. Bart proved himself o be the utmost professional always putting the City of Chula Vista and its citizens first. He is an excellent litigator who saved the taxpayer millions of dollars against frivolous lawsuits. Bart is invested in our community. He has proved his dedication to the City and to all of you. I’m voting for Bart Miesfeld and I hope you do too!
