Eastlake High School’s Mesa League championship swim team — 6-0 in both girls and boys dual meets in 2018 — rose to the top of the waves at this year’s Ben Hedberg Invitational held April 21 at Granite Hills High School by placing among the top two teams in both the girls and boys fields.
The girls team finished first while the boys team finished second. Rancho Bernardo finished second in the girls field.
The meet is named in memory of Hedberg, a Granite Hills swimmer and water polo athlete, who died in 2008 due a rare brain tumor.
