When it seemed like Club Tijuana Xoloitzctuintles de Caliente would finally win a game at home this season a former player, Morelia’s Cristian Pellerano scored the equalizer in the 87th minute to deny Miguel Herrera’s team the victory.
On Friday the Xolos had well earned the victory since they created plenty of opportunities but a defense blunder in the closing minutes cost them the game.
The supremacy over Morelia was impressive since the Xolos had at least 12 scoring opportunities while the visitor only had two.
Since the opening minutes of the first half the team from Tijuana dominated but the opposing keeper and it’s defenders were keen on stopping them from scoring
In the 82d minute striker Dayro Moreno gave the Xolos the lead when midfielder Paul Arriola sent in a cross. with the ball at Moreno’s feet.
The Xolos have been solid this season but their defense is not top-quality and this will continue costing the team points until they play better.
Coach Miguel Herrera said that his team needs to start winning at home and the even though his team played well this was not sufficient. “This team is designed to win as locals and when visiting.”
Next week Club Tijuana will travel to Guadalajara to face Chivas.
