Deadline to nominate Chula Vista champion approaches

Nominations are being accepted for the City of Chula Vista 2025 Sustainability Champion Awards. Any person or group living or working in Chula Vista is eligible for nomination.

There are seven award categories: resident, business, organization, student, educator, community contributor, and City employee.

Past award winners have been recognized for a variety of achievements, including transforming their landscape into a sustainable, low-water garden with native plants and trees; setting up a non-profit to teach residents, business owners and students how to adopt more sustainable practices; and commuting to work every day on a bike for eight years, rain or shine.

The Sustainability Champion Awards – an initiative of the Sustainability Commission and the Office of Sustainability – are designed to recognize those who are helping to advance and promote clean air, clean water, and clean land for future generations in Chula Vista.

Nomination forms are due by 5 p.m. on March 31. Award winners will be recognized at a City Council meeting in April, and at South Bay Earth Day on Saturday, April 12.

The Sustainability Commission presents the annual awards to celebrate local sustainability champions and inspire others to make eco-friendly choices in their everyday actions.
