The city of National City is hosting their inaugural holiday home and business decorating contest, themed the Bright Lights of 2020 for this year.
Anyone interested in participating will need to register for the contest then submit photos of their decorated home or business exterior to the city.
The contest is spearheaded by National City Mayor Alejandra Sotelo-Solis with prizes sponsored by Westfield Plaza Bonita for a home category and a business category.
“We want to invite our community to decorate and show their holiday spirit! It will be a way to celebrate the end of this challenging 2020 year,” Sotelo-Solis said.
When they register for the contest, participants can have their address included or left off the Bright Lights city map that will be made available online for people to follow on a self-led tour of decorated exteriors.
Photos of contest entries must be sent to National City mayoral assistant Nancy Valdivia-Ochoa at nvaldiviaochoa@national cityca.gov and must be received by 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5.
Judging will occur Dec. 5 through 8.
First-place winners will nab $150, second-place winners will receive $100 and $50 will be given to each third-place winner. Call (619) 336-4284 for more information or visit www.nationalcityca.gov to register for the contest.
