The San Diego Section playoffs will start over the next two weeks. Championship venues have already been announced.
The basketball finals will be split between Viejas Arena on the campus of San Diego State University (Open Division, Division I and Division II), San Marcos High School (Division II, Division III and Division IV) and La Costa Canyon High School (Division V).
The soccer finals will be split between Mission Bay High School (Open Division, Division I and Division III) and La Jolla High School (Division II, Division IV and Division V).
The girls water polo finals will take place Feb. 24 at La Jolla High School with a quadruple header starting at 11 a.m.
League champions receive an automatic berth in the playoffs or play-in round, if applicable.
Play-in games will be held prior to the first round in that sport.
All section champions will advance to a regional state playoff game in basketball and soccer.
Basketball
The section playoffs will consist of six divisions: eight teams in the Open Division, 16 teams in Division I, Division II, Division III and Division IV and 12 teams in Division V.
Pairings will be announced on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Open Division teams tip off quarterfinal playoffs on Feb. 23 (boys) and Feb. 24 (girls). Semifinals are Feb. 28 (both genders).
Finals are scheduled at Viejas Arena on March 2 (6 p.m. for girls, 8 p.m. for boys).
Playoffs tip off with first-round action in all other divisions on Feb. 20 (boys) and Feb. 21 (girls), followed by quarterfinals on Feb. 23 (boys) and Feb. 24 (girls). Semifinals are scheduled for either Feb. 27 or Feb. 28.
Game times are set for 7 p.m.
The Division I finals are scheduled at Viejas Arena on March 2 (1 p.m. for girls, 3 p.m. for boys).
The Division II girls finals are scheduled March 2 at Viejas Arena (11 a.m.). The Division II boys finals are scheduled March 3 at San Marcos High School (8 p.m.).
The Division III finals are scheduled March 3 at San Marcos High School (3 p.m. for girls, 6 p.m. for boys).
The Division IV finals are scheduled March 3 at San Marcos High School (11 a.m. for boys, 1 p.m. for girls).
The Division V finals are scheduled March 1 at La Costa Canyon High School (5 p.m. for boys, 7 p.m. for girls).
Soccer
The playoff format will include six divisions. Pairings will be announced on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Open Division quarterfinals are Feb. 20 (girls) and Feb. 21 (Feb. 21). Semifinals are Feb. 27 (girls) and Feb. 28 (boys).
Open Division semifinal losers will play a state seeding game on March 1 (girls) and March 2 (boys) at the home of the higher-seeded team.
The Open Division finals are scheduled March 2 at Mission Bay High School (5 p.m. for girls, 7:30 p.m. for boys).
Opening round playoffs in all other divisions kick off Feb. 20 (girls) and Feb. 21 (boys). Game times are set for 5 p.m.
The Division I finals are scheduled March 3 at Mission Bay High School (4:30 p.m. for girls, 7 p.m. for boys).
The Division II finals are scheduled March 3 at La Jolla High School (4:30 for girls, 7 p.m. for boys).
The Division III finals are scheduled March 3 at Mission Bay High School (11 a.m. for girls, 1:30 p.m. for boys).
The Division IV finals are scheduled March 3 at La Jolla High School (11 a.m. for girls, 1:30 p.m. for boys).
The Division V finals are scheduled March 2 at La Jolla High School (5 p.m. for boys, 7:30 p.m. for girls).
Open division teams (boys and girls) that lose in the quarterfinal round of the section playoffs will play a state seeding game on March 1 at the home of the higher-seeded team.
Girls water polo
Playoff competition will take place in four divisions. Pairings will be posted Feb. 10.
Playoffs start Tuesday, Feb. 13, in Division I and Division III, Wednesday, Feb. 14, in Division II and Thursday, Feb. 15, in the Open Division.
Quarterfinals are at La Jolla High School on Thursday, Feb. 15, in Division III, Friday, Feb. 16, in Division I, and Saturday, Feb. 17, in Division II and the Open Division.
Semifinals are at LJHS on Feb. 19 (Division III), Feb. 20 (Division I) and Feb. 21 (Division II and Open Division).
The championship quadruple header features the Division III final at 11 a.m., Division II final at 1 p.m., a state play-in game at 3 p.m., Division I final at 5 p.m. and Open Division final at 7 p.m.
