Start the New Year off right! The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency South Region will be hosting a series of free resource events. In collaboration with the City of Chula Vista, HHSA South Region would like to invite you to the first resource event: Chula Vista’s Let’s Connect Expo. The free event is open to the public and will be held on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 10 a.m.– 2 p.m. at Chula Vista High School on 820 4th Ave, Chula Vista, CA 91911. The purpose of the free event is to support families by connecting them with useful resources and enrichment opportunities that can help them meet their needs and inspire them to strive for something greater in the New Year.
In addition to providing you and your family with services that can help you thrive, the resource fair will also help you meet you goals and get you prepared for emergencies.
The event will be divided into three zones: Health, Safe and Thriving. Start the New Year by knowing your numbers in the Health zone. This zone will have health screenings such as blood pressure and BMI. If you have New Year’s resolutions and set personal health goals, get practical advice to improve your chances of success by learning how to prepare delicious, healthy meals and snacks and find out where there are physical activity resources available in your community. The Safety zone is designed to help your family be prepared for emergencies. Learn how to create a disaster plan and an emergency kit to help sustain your family in case of an emergency. This year we can expect lots of rain from El Niño, come learn how to stay informed of potential flooding throughout the county and learn from the experts what they are doing to keep residents safe. Finally, the Thriving zone is designed to help you and your family prosper in the New Year in different stages of life. The thriving zone will have resources from a child looking for homework assistance to an adult looking for a job including job searching, updating a resume and tips for interviews. Also, this zone will have resources for applying financial aid for education and learning how to maximize your current income.
