The City of Chula Vista announced that the Chula Vista Library closed on Feb. 5, broadening its services by moving into a larger Otay Ranch Branch location. The library will open at its new location on March 4.
The Otay Ranch Library Branch is relocating within the Otay Ranch Town Center, providing additional study space and seating, along with integrated passport services. The new location is more than 600 square feet larger than the current site and is located at 2015 Birch Road, Suite 1103. During the transition period, all library and passport services are suspended.
In the meantime, a new long-term City library is being built at the Millenia master-planned community on Millenia Avenue, south of Stylus Street. This is the first new library to be opened in the city since 1995, and once completed will provide a versatile community hub with meeting spaces, and a passport office. Construction on this began in August 2023 with a projected completion date by latte 2025.
Over the next month, the public can access library resources, programming, and passport services at the Civic Center and South Chula Vista Library branches.
