The Bonita Optimist Club is holding one of its largest fundraisers of the year on June 21. Held at the Chula Vista Golf Course, Heroes for Children Golf Classic is more than a chance to showcase your skills on the green, but an opportunity to make a lasting impact of countless young people, said tournament chair Barb Leon.
Check in for the tournament is at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1 p.m., and an on-site Ball Drop contest at 12:45 p.m. The fundraiser includes lunch, a banquet dinner, games, raffles, an auction, and more.
Leon said the nonprofit club works to “bring out the best in kids.”
“We support youth within the community, and we do many initiatives throughout the year to raise money for our activities. We have a twice-a-year book sale, our gold tournament, and in the last few weeks we have given out several scholarships to our children in our local schools. Those are very valuable. We look forward to helping children in the community through our various activities throughout the year,” she said.
Leon said the tournament is a regular 18-hole golf game.
“Golfers can sign up individually. They can sign up as a foursome. We are looking for golfers. We are also looking for sponsors. We have various sponsorships levels available. We have hole sponsors, par 3 sponsors, which provides community businesses to come out and support,” she said. “Prepare for an unforgettable day filled with exciting challenges, incredible prizes, and a chance to make a difference. Secure your spot as a player, foursome, or sponsor, and experience the thrill of teeing off for a worthy cause. With player gift bags, on-course contests, delectable meals, and the chance to win big at the raffle and live auction, this event promises to be a hole-in-one experience. Join us in creating a brighter future for our youth. Swing into action and be a part of the Heroes for Children Golf Classic where every stroke counts towards empowering the next generation.”
