The City of Chula Vista announced that Lauderbach Park was reopened on July 12, after more than a year of extensive renovations.
New features in the 3.9-acre park include new basketball courts that can be converted into pickle ball courts where players need to bring their own nets, a synthetic turf multi-purpose field with lighting, new sidewalks, enhanced landscaping, two tot lots, restrooms and picnic areas. Funding for the project was provided by a $1 Million State of California Youth Soccer Grant and $820,000 from Measure P, the half-cent, ten-year sales tax passed by Chula Vista voters in 2016.
An adjacent building is being leased by the City partner South Bay Community Services to provide services to the local community.
The park was closed in March 2022 for the renovation project, designed by Rick Engineering with construction by 3Sixty Innovations.
Lauderbach Park is at 333 Oxford St. and is open daily from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.
