Chula Vista Champions 5K Run registration open

Registration is now open for the Chula Vista Champions 5K Run, to be held Sat., Sept. 14 at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center. All proceeds from the 14th annual event will benefit the City of Chula Vista’s Recreation Department programs and services. After the run, participants can visit an expo with more than 20 local vendors providing information and handing out prizes. Vendors will include Home Depot, Chula Vista Animal Services, Living Coast Discovery Center, and StretchLab Chula Vista, among others. Food trucks will also be selling meals for purchase, and there will be an opportunity drawing with gift cards to local restaurants.

Gates open at 6:30 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m. at the Elite Athlete Training Center, located at 2800 Olympic Parkway. Radio host Rick Morton from Z90.3 will emcee the event, helping create a festive atmosphere, and Chula Vista Mayor John McCann will kick off the race.

Registration is currently $15 per person for ages 4 -16 and $25 for ages 17 and up. Children three and under are free. Registration includes entry, a T-shirt, and a race medal.
