A team of local high school students, 652A Robomonkeys, recently won the California State VEX Robotics Championship, securing a spot at the VEX Robotics World Championship in May in Dallas, Texas.
The 652A Robomonkeys, composed of Andrew Espinola (Olympian High School), Rylan Lezarda (Mater Dei High School), Kylie Hunter (Otay Ranch High School), and Yuchan Jung (Olympian High School), competed against the top 100 teams from across Southern California in a rigorous three-day tournament in La Verne, California. Their victory solidifies their status as one of the best robotics teams in the state, showcasing their talent in engineering, coding, and teamwork.
The VEX Robotics World Championship is the largest robotics competition of its kind, bringing together top student-led teams from around the world to showcase their skills in engineering, programming, and strategic gameplay. Over several days of intense competition, teams will put their robots to the test in a series of challenges designed to push the boundaries of STEM innovation. Beyond the competition, the event provides students with opportunities to collaborate with peers from different countries, learn from industry professionals, and gain hands-on experience that prepares them for future careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.
