Residents east of Interstate 805 have reason to celebrate this weekend as the city of Chula Vista opens a new library on their side of town.
The library at Otay Ranch Town Center is scheduled for its grand opening from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 14.
The library will be in the shopping mall’s food court, 2015 Birch Road.
Festivities include music performed by Kidville’s Rockin’ Railroad, appearances by popular book characters and tours of the new 3,500-square-foot facility.
The library will feature free wi-fi that extends into the mall’s food court.
“This new branch library is truly designed for the 21st century, with high-end features, modular work areas, colorful décor, self check-out and a large collection of e-books,” said Betty Waznis, director of the Chula Vista Public Library.
The new library will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and from noon to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
