A bird that got tangled in power lines was the source of an electrical outage on Thursday that caused more than 1,200 Chula Vista and Bonita residents to lose power between 7:47 a.m. and 12 p.m., according to SDG&E.
The outage parameters included the bay to the 805 North and inbetween H Street and D Street in Chula Vista.
“A bird (being the source of an outage), is more common than people think,” said SDG&E spokeswoman Allison Zaragoza. She saidthe SDG&E crew was en route at 9:50 a.m. to repair the damaged equipment.
Lynn Usher, a 30-year Chula Vista resident, sat on the front porch of her home with her grandmother on the corner of E Street and Second Avenue watching cars.
Usher said she watched Chula Vista motorcycle officers pull drivers over who failed to stop at down traffic signals.
“They just wait for people to run the light and they pull them over,” Usher said.
