A National City man who robbed three bank tellers pleaded guilty April 29, his 28th birthday.
Oscar Esteban Valle will be sentenced June 10 before San Diego Superior Court Judge Timothy Walsh. Deputy District Attorney Jim Koerber said Valle faces a maximum term of 11 years and eight months in state prison.
He pleaded guilty to three robbery charges at the Wells Fargo bank branch on Balboa Avenue near Genesee Avenue in Clairemont last year. He fled with a GPS track embedded in the cash and San Diego Police officers followed him to the Midway district.
He crashed into a patrol car and another vehicle. He abandoned his vehicle on the Interstate 8 off-ramp at Sports Arena Boulevard before he was arrested.
Valle also pleaded guilty to evading police with reckless driving and carrying a loaded weapon. He also pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
He remains in jail on $500,000 bail.
