Array of backers support P

On Sept. 9, the Yes on Measure P campaign announced its launch with the support of a bipartisan coalition including Chula Vista Mayor John McCann, City Council, leaders from businesses, labor, the San Diego County Taxpayers Association, and Chula Vista first responders all endorsing the measure to continue improvements in Chula Vista’s infrastructure without additional taxes.

Since its initial approval in 2016, Chula Vista’s Measure P has enabled the city to repair and upgrade over 300 streets, 150 storm drains, and 138 emergency vehicles, significantly enhancing public safety and city infrastructure. Measure P’s renewal will continue this momentum, allowing for ongoing improvements to fill potholes, fix up city parks, and upgrade the city’s emergency response fleet. Measure P also guarantees fiscal responsibility, including mandatory annual audits and an Independent Citizens’ Oversight Committee to ensure the city’s infrastructure funds are spent wisely.

“Measure P is a testament to what we can achieve when we put community first. Democrats, Republicans, business leaders, and labor unions alike stand together in support of protecting Chula Vista neighborhoods. It’s about protecting our city’s future, improving our neighborhoods, and ensuring that every Chula Vista neighborhood is clean and safe,” said Chula Vista Mayor John McCann in a press release. “With Measure P, we are protecting all Chula Vista neighborhoods, without burdening our taxpayers.”
Chula Visat Firefighters Association President Darrell Roberts said the upgrades it has made to its equipment and technology have been a game-changer, enhancing its ability to respond swiftly and effectively in emergencies.

“Renewing Measure P ensures we can continue delivering the top-notch service Chula Vista relies on when it matters the most,” he stated.

Chula Vista Police Officers Association President David Oyos said safety is so fundamental to the community, and with Measure P, it has been able to enhance Chula Vista’s emergency response capabilities dramatically.
